Molly de Aguiar: Funders Need to Focus on How to Support Local News and Information

IPMF President Molly de Aguiar was asked by the Philanthropy Journal about the role philanthropy plays in the strategic funding of Canada’s local news and information landscape. de Aguiar shared that funders need to move past why fund local news and information and instead focus on how to fund these systems.

"At this stage, funders should take it as a given that local news and information systems are essential services in need of investment, that the public (particularly those who are low income, racialized, or live in rural communities) is not getting the information it needs," said de Aguiar.
