One Art Community Center

When the lions tells their story, the hunter will no longer be the hero.

Through digital storytelling and skill sharing, One Art Community Center returns the mic back to communities that have been historically excluded from the media and history as a whole. The stories that are told become our history, and it's important to ensure that we are the gatekeepers of our truth. One Art Community Center aims to reject the current narratives of depletion and disaster in our communities and use community voices voices to uplift and empower regenerative portrayals of themselves. One Art provides a hands-on learning experience for youth and community members to learn how to build sustainably, do urban farming, advocate for environmental justice and heal through the arts. One of the organization's goals is to memorialize their programming, providing a digital hub of environmental justice resources created for and by the community. These multimedia features will be produced and distributed to the public in conjunction with the organization's learning opportunities for all ages to utilize the arts as a catalyst for learning. Through their solar powered, eco-sustainable multimedia lab, One Art Community Center is working towards becoming Philadelphia's POC-led center of urban sustainability.
